Long-term ownership for established UK businesses

Where legacies grow.

Oren Ventures is a privately owned buyer of established UK businesses. We buy for our own long-term ownership, respect what made a company successful, and give it room to continue developing.

Confidential. No obligation. A conversation does not start a sale process.

What should continue

Ownership may change. What matters should not.

The value of a business is not confined to its accounts. Its reputation, relationships and ways of working took years to earn.

People may have built their careers there. Customers may know you personally. Choosing the next owner means deciding who will take responsibility for all of it.

What makes it work

We begin with the people, customers, standards and knowledge already behind a company’s success.

The people who know it

Long-serving employees and capable managers hold knowledge that cannot be found in a spreadsheet.

The years ahead

Patient ownership and practical support, so a strong business can continue to develop.

How Oren is set up

A buyer with no one to answer to.

Oren buys for its own account. There is no fund behind us and no deadline.

  • Privately owned

No outside shareholders to satisfy, and no fund that has to hand money back by a certain date.

  • You deal with us

Whoever you meet in the first conversation is who will own the business afterwards, and who you can ring in five years’ time.

  • We do not sell on

No exit plan and no date in a diary. It is the only honest basis on which to promise an owner that what they built will be looked after.

What we buy

Good businesses. Strong foundations.

We care more about the quality of a business than the category it belongs to.

  • A proven history

Dependable profits and healthy cash generation, through good years and difficult ones.

  • Customers who stay

Dependable relationships and a reputation earned over time.

  • Management worth backing

Capable managers who will carry on running it, backed and rewarded for what they build.

  • Room to keep growing

A future that builds on what already works, rather than replacing it.

Why Oren

Money is the easy part of a sale.

Most owners work that out early. The harder questions come afterwards, and they are rarely the ones a buyer wants to talk about.

Whether the people who stayed with you will be looked after. Whether the customers who trusted you will still be dealt with properly. Whether your name over the door survives. Whether the thing you spent thirty years making is still recognisable in ten years’ time.

Oren was founded by someone who has built companies, sold them, and had to ask those questions from the other side of the table. That is why we ask them first.

A clear route forward

Thoughtful from the first conversation.

Private, direct and responsive. We take time to understand the business, and we keep the process moving.

  • 01

    Talk

Discuss the business, your circumstances and what matters to you.

  • 02

    Understand

Review the company properly and establish whether there is a fit.

  • 03

    Agree

Set out valuation, structure, funding, timing and the route to completion.

  • 04

    Hand over

Plan the transfer of ownership, and what follows it.

How a sale works
Rhian Blake, founder of Oren Ventures.

Rhian BlakeFounder

We understand both sides of a transaction and the responsibility that begins at completion.

Rhian Blake has built companies, grown them and sold them. She has stood where most owners in this position are standing now.

Rhian is an entrepreneur, operator, investor, board adviser and former M&A lawyer. She has built and exited several businesses.

She began her career advising companies and investors on M&A, before building and leading businesses across technology, international expansion and corporate strategy.

What we care about is understanding why a business works, and what gives it its character, before bringing any experience of our own to bear on it.

Advising an owner? Send a teaser to enquiries@orenventures.co.uk. You will hear back within a few working days, either way.

Work for a business you have heard we are talking to? We buy companies in order to keep them running. Jobs and terms carry on, and how the business is run stays with the people who run it.

A confidential conversation

When the time feels right.

You may be ready to sell, planning ahead, or only beginning to consider it. A conversation can start well before a decision is made.

What you tell us goes no further than the few people who need to see it, and we approach no employee, customer or supplier without your agreement. If it is not the right fit, we will say so quickly.

Confidential, and without obligation. Nothing begins until you say so.
